Ambien: Excuse or Escapism?

Ambien…This popular go-to sedative has taken the blame for everything from racial slurs to trashing hotel rooms. But does its usage, particularly among celebrities or billionaires, just remind us that being rich or famous comes with massive expectations, responsibilities, and stress that eventually takes its toll. According to the New York Times, it was a choice of either no sleep or Ambien for Elon Musk.

Unusual sleep-related behaviors are not uncommon with this medicine; however, it is unlikely to evoke thoughts that are contrary to a person’s true character. Nonetheless, should we all just be a bit more understanding of the stress involved with always being in the spotlight, and be more prepared to overlook occasional errors of judgment and give people a break?
